January Favorites!

Since not many people read my blog, not that that was even the intent, I'm going to frequently use it for documenting parts of my life. And while maybe I won't care what I liked 5 months from now, I can may 5 years from now, so here I go.

And yes we are more than a week into February, but lets all pretend I did this at the end of last month.

My favorite book this month was: The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion

While I don't really get a ton of time to read with a crazy two year old running amuck in the house, I've been reading this book most nights before bed and it keeps me up a lot longer than most bedtime books.

My favorite movie: The Wolf of Wall Street:

Anthony and I rarely get to go see movies, so we took advantage of date night by going out watching a wildly inappropriate movie for children and it was glorious!! Not only was it a great movie that kept us intertwined the whole time, but it was a total 180 from the Sprout and Disney we watch that I left the theatre actually feeling like an adult.

My favorite "TV" show: Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee!!!

MAN OH MAN!!! I'm a huge Jerry Seinfeld fan and stumbled upon this, this month and it quickly became one of my favorite shows. I mean, the premise of the show is exactly what the title says and each week is a different guest. But the very first episode, with Larry David, was by far my favorite.

Well this is just a rough draft but I'm going to go ahead and post it, otherwise it will probably never get edited and will eventually just get deleted… Expect my next blog to mainly focus on Axton and what's new with him :)

Removing pet hair from carpets, this is pretty gross you guys.

Okay, I'm just going to start this out by saying that exactly two weeks ago I shampooed all the carpet downstairs and they looked like this.
But in the last two weeks our dog Dash has begun to shed his undercoat and the fur his been everywhere! I brush him, but doesn't keep the fur from getting all over the house. Sweeping it up off hard surfaces isn't too bad, but you can't vacuum it up from carpet!!! I have tried several times but all it does is gather it in long streaks on the carpet. Finally after some searching online I finally found something that worked!

Here is what I used, a "slicker brush" I picked up from Wal-Mart the day we got Dash. We actually only ended up not really liking it and opted for another brush so this wasn't even being used.

Okay, well here comes the really gross part. In the corner where Dash's bed is. You want to make sure you brush the carpet in more than one direction to make sure you're getting all the fur out.

Just about a minute of brushing and it picked all the fur up, from this spot!! All of that was on the carpet, how disgusting is that?!?

While the brush couldn't get the edges, you can see how much better is looks!

I hope this is able to help all you pet owners ready to "pull your hair out" over all the shedding madness!!!

Steamed garlic kale & spinach with pesto

Wow, so today I came up with a recipe that was actually really good. While I cook with kale a lot my husband usually just tolerates it, but tonight he told me should only ever make it like this from now on.

Ingredients:
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1T olive oil
- 3c chopped kale
- 1c spinach
- 1T pesto (I used the Kirkland brand)
- 2T water

1. Heat up olive oil in sauté pan on medium high heat and add garlic until it begins to brown

2. Add spinach, kale and water to pan and cover until cooked, this will be quick 30-60 second.

3. Remove from heat and mix in pesto, and it's ready to enjoy :)
